Assay: Phone Test & Checkup
What it does.
Check this phone.
One guided run takes the tests in a set order. Assay decides by itself where it can, and asks “Did it work?” where only a person can judge. Every step has Skip and Retry.
Screen and touch.
Full-screen colours help you spot dots or lines that stay one colour. Paint every cell of a touch grid, then see how many fingers the screen picks up at once.
Speakers, mic and sensors.
Tones on the left, right and both speakers and the earpiece, a microphone loopback, and a live trace for each sensor as you tilt, turn and cover the phone.
Share the report.
Every result with the date and the device facts, plus a note of up to 200 characters, shared as an image and as text.
Honestly
What it can and can't do.
Every report ends with the same footer, for example:
Self-check made with Assay on this phone on 3 Oct 2026. Results show what the person running it saw and heard. Not a certification. Run it yourself on the phone in front of you.
Assay does
- Marks a sensor your phone doesn't have as Not present, never as a fail.
- Shows the battery facts Android reports, such as level, charging status, temperature and voltage.
- Lists Home, Back and Recents as not testable by apps, because they belong to Android.
Assay doesn't
- It doesn't estimate battery wear or capacity, because Android doesn't give apps that figure.
- It doesn't look for a GPS signal, scan for networks or devices, read NFC tags or check the SIM.
- It doesn't save or send what the microphone hears.

What Assay reads
Privacy, in plain words.
Tests run on your phone. Assay asks for the microphone only at the microphone step. Your last report is kept on this phone only and is not backed up, and it leaves the phone only when you share it. Results, device facts and notes are never sent to Moonlet Labs. Full privacy policy for Assay.
